What a summer it has been! First AfroFest and now African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT). It is said to be Canada’s most prominent diversity event. It showcases afro-inspired designers and talent from around the world. In addition to fashion shows, there is also a Student Designer Competition and on the final day is The Fashion Awards Red Carpet & Ceremony. This year AFWT took place at Branksome Hall. While being on the Media Team I had the honour of interviewing the Emerging Designer of the Year Nykwale! She revealed during our interview for the first time that she was headed to the prestigious New York Fashion Week! How exciting! Check out some pics of our interview as well as a few runway designs.
